Info for album: playroom

This is a quiet album of acoustic guitar and voice recorded between November 2014 and February 2015. Most tracks were improvised on the spot, but some are songs Andy was working on, like "what's that mountain doing?", "sunsets", and "6/4 romp". There's also a nod to Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time", and a half-remembered bit of the old Andy Band song "electric city". They were recorded in the playroom at mangobananas studio in West Windsor, VT, with the beautiful view out over Mount Ascutney. Andy plays there during the colder months because the basement and barn studio spaces aren't heated. Recorded with two mics through an M-Audio FastTrack Pro USB interface into a MacBook Pro (17-inch, early 2009). Some reverb added. Andy plays his beloved 2006 Taylor 310 acoustic guitar, and is tuned to open G, open Gm, or drop-D for most of the songs (see recording info for each song).

Overview:
There are cassette tapes by "The Andy Band" dating back to 1979, when Andy was 14 years old, and he is still an avid recording musician. Sometimes The Andy Band is all about "hit record and go" improvisation, other times it's all about one-man-band multi-tracking in the studio. Since 2010, Andy has been playing some of these songs live near his new home in Vermont at open mics. He relishes the thrill of improvising with an audience, as well as singing three-part harmonies and playing bass with players there. But he also loves building up a song with layers and layers of Andys, singing and playing everything.
