( show )

These are the most accessible pop songs from Andy's semester off from Cornell, living in London with his girlfriend Jessica and some new friends Paul & Bridget and Roy. This CD, 1 of 4 from this productive period, includes some tunes that ended up in the EBA repetoire like "small world", "gravity is getting me down", and "anything but love". Paul plays guitar, wrote lyrics, and sings on "I, I, I" and "half past four". Jessica wrote lyrics and sang on "I ain't got no money", "cabbage is highly flatulant anyhow", and "half-past four", and wrote the lyrics for "my ass is magenta for your love baby". Tim wrote the lyrics for "small world", "all the way down", "avoid your eye", "impasse", and "share the view". Everything else is Andy. Recorded to Paul's Yamaha MT-44 4-track cassette deck.

Overview:
There are cassette tapes by "The Andy Band" dating back to 1979, when Andy was 14 years old, and he is still an avid recording musician. Sometimes The Andy Band is all about "hit record and go" improvisation, other times it's all about one-man-band multi-tracking in the studio. Since 2010, Andy has been playing some of these songs live near his new home in Vermont at open mics. He relishes the thrill of improvising with an audience, as well as singing three-part harmonies and playing bass with players there. But he also loves building up a song with layers and layers of Andys, singing and playing everything.
