the masterpieceAndy - acoustic guitar Tommy - acoustic guitar Tommy came over for Presidents Day 2009, 16 Feb. This was the first bit, just a jam on one of Tommy's ideas after getting levels set. My guitar is miked in the usual way with the Earthworks SR-77 pretty close through the Symetrix 628 out S/PDIF to the Firepod and the Rode NT1-A about 2 feet away into the Firepod. Tommy had my new mics, an AT2021 small-diaphragm condenser up close and an AT2020 large-diaphragm condenser avout 2 feet away.
rock harpTom - blues harp, vocals Andy - electric guitar, bass, vocals, programming drums From a session Tommy and I did in mangobananas studios Ithaca on July 11, 2008. We did two 8-bar sections individually just rockin out on them, then inserted a breakdown section in the middle. It was supposed to be a rockin metal harp song but ended up going in a total R&B feel.

Overview:
There are cassette tapes by "The Andy Band" dating back to 1979, when Andy was 14 years old, and he is still an avid recording musician. Sometimes The Andy Band is all about "hit record and go" improvisation, other times it's all about one-man-band multi-tracking in the studio. Since 2010, Andy has been playing some of these songs live near his new home in Vermont at open mics. He relishes the thrill of improvising with an audience, as well as singing three-part harmonies and playing bass with players there. But he also loves building up a song with layers and layers of Andys, singing and playing everything.
